Just a few of the steps we take at Advanced Office Systems, Inc.
We have set a company policy to shut off all lights, machinery, and equipment when not in use (with the exception of those providing round-the-clock or off-hours services such as servers, backup devices, etc.), particularly on nights and weekends. Most equipment is idle and unused for up to 90 percent of its life. Simply plugging periferals into a power strip that can be easily shut off can account for large savings. Computers and their peripherals consume a surprising amount of power. We have replaced desktop computers with laptops where ever it is practicle. Laptops are far more energy efficient and can consume up to 80 percent less energy than equivalent desktops
We have upgraded our HVAC system to 2 smaller high efficiency units that can be used alone or in tandem when needed. We have also install programmable thermostats to automate your HVAC system and to significantly scale back your heating and cooling when your business is not in operation
We purchase Energy Star qualified products when ever possible. The Energy Star label indicates the most efficient light bulbs, computers, printers, copiers, and other appliances and equipment.
We plan our delivery truck routes carefully to aviod backtracking and wasted idle time.
We donate or recycle all equipment that we and our customers wish to retire. As well as used toner cartridges, and cardboard.
Whenever possible, use digital document delivery methods such as email avoid postage, printing, ink, and paper use. We also used solutions such as those from DocuClass that facilitate electronic document storage and automation.
